I would like to create series of images showing circus and the performers in a creepy, scarey way.
My original idea was to do posters for a "Freak Show" but I thought it could be quite offensive.
Here are few images that may give better idea of what this idea
is about.
Obviously this images are only starting point in my research and development. I think most of my images (or maybe all of them) will be taken in the studio.
IDEA 2
21st century "freak show"
The idea is to point out intolerance of "abnormal" behavior and at the same time bring to attention how peoples values and morals change over the last few years.
The "freaks" I want to introduce are the people who don not follow the pressure of society.
All models will be dress in circus outfits. There will be standing or siting looking bored or upset like someone make them standing there.
examples:
A teenager (17yo maybe) who is still a virgin.
A child (14yo) who has not got the phone or an I pad
A successful business woman in her 30s who dose not want a family.
a cougar
A stay in home father while the wife brings the income.
The examples are not final it is a starting point. I welcome any suggestions btw!:)
IDEA 3
creepy fashion
This idea is very straight forward. It is a fashion shoot with dark and moody spin.
I think you're great at "creepy fashion" but I like the idea of the cirque de freak and I think you could produce some great shots for that.
ReplyDeleteGreat Powerpoint. Well done. I think you have finally found yourself and your strengths. I would love to see you creating some freak show images. You just need to pinpoint your idea and I think the outcome could be amazing. You can always put a fashion twist to it.
ReplyDeleteThe third idea stands out the most to me out of all three. I think Emma is right about you being a fashion photographer as a lot of your photographs have a fashion edge to them but with the final idea you can put that with the scary effect you want to persue.
ReplyDeleteI think the second idea of highlighting intolerance in society and looking at changing morality would be a really interesting project, and you could produce some really edgy images that suit your style of photography.
ReplyDeleteAll great ideas Michal, but my favourite is the second, although maybe the notion of them being freaks because they don't conform to society's expectations might get lost if they're dressed up?

I really the second idea it challages stereotypes and it would be inter sent result, i would like to hear your ideas of how you would do the second idea. The third idea i think is were you could combine the fashion and your other idea. it will be interesting to see the outcome.
ReplyDeleteI think that all of your ideas are strong, and that you have already made a good start with the self portraits and you should continue with them as "creepy portraits" wether you continue to use yourself or rope someone in to help, due to them being for a circus style imagery they don't have to be your typical model. I don't think it needs to go down the fashion route just keep them strong portraits.
